Sources of Conflict

Conflicts most often arise from varied perspectives. These varied perspectives come from-

  1. Expectations
  2. Varied knowledge (eg. casual observer versus researcher).
  3. Varied timeframe/snap shot (5 minute observation versus 5 year view versus 100 year view).
  4. Simplifying something complex.
  5. Emotional response versus objective response.
  6. Blaming/applying a generalized solution to a specific problem.
  7. Blame the firefighter-the one that attempts to solve a problem but fails.
  8. Discounting of a perspective due to arbitrary disqualification.
  9. Mechanical approach to problem that features emotion, tradition, loyalty and other intangibles.
